Who is HRMAC?

The human resources profession is ever-changing yet full of challenges and opportunities. In 1915, HRMAC was formed by industry leaders and visionaries to meet a need during a time of great disruption and change, to help Chicago usher in, lead and manage the Industrial Revolution.  Today HR is more dynamic and disruptive than ever.  HRMAC is uniquely positioned to pull from our rich history, experience and leadership to continue to drive the profession into the future.

HRMAC is Chicagoland's premier resource for advancing workplace strategy and leadership. HRMAC membership has grown to nearly 500 Chicago area organizations with a network of more than 8,000 HR Professionals representing non-profit organizations, small private companies, and multinational public corporations from every business sector. As the oldest HR organization in the US, HRMAC has continued its evolution.  As HR is more dynamic and disruptive than ever, HRMAC is uniquely able to pull from our rich history, experience and leadership to continue to drive our members into the future.

How Much are Membership Dues?

HRMAC dues are calculated on the total number of company employees in the Chicago area. Click here for complete information on dues and membership categories. 

How Do I Join HRMAC?

HRMAC operates a corporate membership structure. Organizations that are classified as 501(c)3, 501(c)6, or a public school may join under the Nonprofit Organization category, which means the company joins and the employees benefit.  Dues are annual (from July 1- June 30). Companies are welcome to join year-round. There are three types of corporate memberships: Corporate HR, Professional Services (including Sole Practitioner) and Nonprofit Organizations.  Join online or call the HRMAC office at 312.981.6790 for more information.



What Are HRMAC’s Membership Categories?

Corporate Membership

For organizations wishing to provide professional development and networking opportunities for their staff. Dues are determined by the number of employees your organization has in the Chicago area. Everyone in your organization, even outside of the HR practice, is considered a member and can take advantage of membership discounts and benefits.

Professional Services Membership

For organizations that provide products and services to the HR community. There are two tiers and special pricing to small businesses, including a Sole Practitioner category. Sole Practitioner membership is offered specifically for HR professionals who have launched their own consulting business. Offering the full benefits of membership, the only qualification for this membership category is that the company may have only one full time employee - You!

Nonprofit Organization Membership

Nonprofit Organizations (501(c)3, 501(c)6, or entities such as public schools and government agencies) who wish to join HRMAC to provide professional development and networking opportunities to their HR staff are invited to join under this category. Dues are determined by the number of your organization's employees located in the greater Chicago area. Everyone in your organization is considered a member, regardless of where they are located, and are encouraged to take advantage of membership discounts and benefits. Organizations providing products and services to the human resources community must join HRMAC under the Professional Services category.

How Can I Get My Company to Join HRMAC?

A HRMAC staff member will be happy to talk to you further about the benefits of a corporate membership and gladly send you membership materials to present to your HR team.

Is HRMAC Affiliated with SHRM?

No. HRMAC is a local, independent association with a company-based membership of nearly 500 Chicago area organizations with a network of over 6,000 HR professionals. HRMAC is not affiliated with any other HR organization.

Does HRMAC Offer PHR/SPHR/GPHR Re-certification Credits?

HRMAC is an approved provider authorized by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The majority of HRMAC's programs count toward the PHR/SPHR/GPHR recertification.

What Volunteer Opportunities does HRMAC Offer?

HRMAC members have a number of opportunities to volunteer.  These opportunities vary by level of commitment and include education, content, and recognition of HR practices and people.   HRMAC issues a call for volunteers annually in April. Look out for your invitation to join a committee.  Opportunities are only open to HRMAC members.
