SUMMIT 2008 Offers New Model for Strategic Planning

Many human resources professionals go through the routines of planning, but don’t see it as a core part of the work they do for their organizations.   This, according to Summit keynote presenter, Glen Hiemstra, is one of the challenges facing business leaders today.

A professional futurist, Glen is the author of Turning the Future into Revenue: What Business and Individuals Need to Know to Shape their Futures. In a recent interview with Summit’s program chair, Renata Viskanta, Glen discusses the importance of incorporating strategic thinking into business operations and describes his 3-stages of strategic planning.

Glen’s discussion of future planning continues at Summit on November 5 where he will discuss some of the trends likely to impact business and talent management as well as his model for Preferred Future Planning.  This is just one of the strategic issues of focus for HRMAC’s Summit on Wednesday, November 5 at the Rosemont Convention Center.

This year’s Summit is the day following the presidential elections.  A unique opening presentation features a business-focused analysis of the election results with television commentator and host of WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight The Week in Review”, Joel Weisman.

Employee engagement and other challenges facing human resources leaders will be the focus of a presentation and panel discussion lead by researcher Tamara Erickson.  The day closes with a look at leadership development with executive coach Paralympic medal winner Bonnie St. John.

In addition to strategic presentations, Summit offers human resources leaders opportunities to connect with each other to share best practices.  A networking luncheon is included in the registration fee and special lunch programs are available for chief human resource officers and human resources professionals in the early stages of their careers.  In addition, the Summit Expo will feature nearly 90 companies with products and services for the human resources industry.

For those professionals who are PHR/SPHR certified, SUMMIT 2008 is approved for 5.25 strategic hours towards recertification.

Summit is a local, one day event that requires no out of town travel or hotel accommodations.  Plus, everything is included in one, low registration fee.    Discounts are available for team registrations and for those who register early.  Visit SUMMIT 2008 for more information.
